This Queso Vegan Cheese Sauce is my go-to sauce for all things cheesy. It is super quick and easy to prepare. Among other dishes, it can be used for enchiladas, nachos, burritos, tostados, beans & rice, and french fries or potatoes.
Queso Vegan Cheese Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp flour or corn starch
- 1 c cashew milk
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- dash or garlic salt, to taste - this is an important component
- dash or cayenne pepper for spice
Instructions
- Add the water to saucepan and stir in the flour. Mix well over medium heat.
- Once combined, add the cashew milk, nutritional yeast, garlic salt and cayenne pepper.
- Cook over low to medium heat, stirring constantly until desired thickness or consistency.
- Taste and adjust spices. The garlic salt and cayenne pepper give it a nice flavor.
- Sauce can be used immediately or stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- The sauce will thicken more as it cools in the refrigerator.
