Mexican Inspired Black Beans
This dish is quick and easy to make with canned black beans and spices. So delicious...definitely a family favorite and a go to quite often.
Ingredients
- 1 16 oz can of black beans, do not drain
- 2 tbsp water - to sauté onion and garlic
- 1/2 c chopped onion
- 3 garlic cloves, minced or chopped
- 1/4 c chopped cilantro
- 1 tea cumin
- 1/2 tea salt
Instructions
- This recipe is so easy to make with staple ingredients. Feel free to substitute the fresh garlic with garlic powder, etc.
- Add the 2 tablespoons of water to the saucepan. Add the onions and garlic to the saucepan and cook over medium heat for 3-4 minutes. Cook until the onions begin to soften.
- Add the undrained black beans, cilantro, cumin, and salt (if desired). Stir well and reduce heat to medium low. Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and season to your liking. Sprinkle with your favorite toppings such as more cilantro, chopped onion, or salsa. Enjoy!
