Healthy Food Doesn’t Have To Be Boring!

Healthy food should not only be good for you, but should also cause a flavor dance party in your mouth! I love good food but honestly things I eat today I know I would not have considered 8 years ago. I have been plant strong for 8 years now and my flavor palate has grown tremendously. So give yourself some grace when experimenting and trying new dishes. Do you know it may take 21 touches before a child is willing to eat a new food? 21 touches! That is amazing. They may start out by looking at it, smelling it, touching it, licking their finger after touching it etc., but will eventually try it and many times grow to like it. So the message here is…don’t give up. Keep adding it to your plate and their plate and you will probably grow to love it.

Experiment and try new things to keep food interesting. For example, I usually eat a salad daily. It would get really boring if I made the same ole’ salad each day. I vary the greens, cruciferous veggies, etc. to keep it interesting. I also change out the salad dressing. If you haven’t tried Costco’s brand of Balsamic Vinegar, you are missing out! Add a spoonful of hummus to your salad and top it with the Balsamic Vinegar (right out of the jar). Flavor Explosion!

All of this to say, change it up and keep in interesting. It can be as small as changing the salad dressing on your salad. Chances are you will stick with a healthy way of eating if the flavors are something you enjoy. Like I stated in the title, healthy food doesn’t have to be boring! There are too many varieties and delicious dishes out there to settle for boring!
